Member David Hilditch has expressed his optimism ahead of the Daily
Mirror Trophy Final tonight and believes that Carrick Rangers can go
on to lift their first peice of silverware since 1993 when they upset
the odds by beating Glentoran in the County Antrim Shield.
Speaking ahead of tonights final showdown with Moyola Park, Mr
Hilditch said: It is a fantastic feeling knowing that Carrick
will be competing in a cup final. Obviously its our first opportunity
of winning a trophy since 1993, so the players, staff, and fans will
be up for it.
The town is buzzing at the minute and we have received a lot of
encouragement from local businesses and locals which has been fantastic.
Although we lost 2-1 to Moyola earlier in the season, there is
a general feeling that we can beat them this time around. We had enough
chances in that game to win four matches.
Our form in the Daily Mirror Trophy has been fantastic - we are
yet to be defeated, and hopefully after tonight, will remain so.
The performance against Armagh on Saturday should have shown everyone
who much the players are up for this game, and if we can get a little
run going in the league, who knows where this can take us.
It will be a big confidence boost for veryone at the club if we
can win the trophy, and of course, from an administrative point of view,
would prove to be very successful as well.
