Christchurch Carrickfergus

Christchurch has been in existence having started in the Community Centre at Sunnylands in 1974.

The church was founded by husband and wife team, Dr Sam and Mrs Marie Grant along with their son Colin.

The church began to grow and by 1979 the church moved to the North Road premises. The church continued to grow steadily until in the late 1990’s. As the church developed it became necessary to build larger premises.

In looking for a new site it was decided that we should take into account the core congregation and area into which we wished to reach. Thus land was purchased in Oakfield Drive.

This has been a good move for our church as is evidenced by the number of visitors attending our services and new members joining the congregation. We are now situated in the heart of the community of Glenfield, Dunlusken, Castlemara and Oakland.

The construction of these new premises started in June 1999. These continued unabated until on 2nd September 2000 the new Christchurch Sanctuary and Buildings where officially opened by Pastor Marie Grant.

The people of Christchurch are a faithful and dedicated congregation, their labours of love for their church are an inspiration to the whole district.

Each of the members can meet with a sense of purpose and pride for what they have achieved under God. And it is all for His Glory.

This project marked the beginning of a wonderful enterprise for us after twenty seven years of hard work on behalf of this congregation.

The opening of this new building in the year 2000, was a significant and important year in our history, was indeed an occasion of great joy.
